SIRA Student Page
Industry Data
We receive at least 1 email per day from students who request a wide variety of information. We welcome genuine inquiries and try to do our best to provide relevant answers.
If you wish SIRA to answer your questions we do ask you to follow these guidelines:
- First, have you searched the Internet? Have you checked out our Market Profile web pages ? If you still wish to send an email read on.
- Be specific and brief in your request. Do not request for a highly detailed answer or for SIRA to write your thesis!
- You must be a real student. You must state the education institution name and course you are studying. Without this we will not answer your email. Commercial organizations pretending to be students will be prohibited from using SIRA's resources and identified to other market and technical consultants with which we have a relationship. So be warned.
- Be realistic in your expectations. We will not waste our valuable time undertaking your research for nothing. If we have the answers close at hand we will provide them if not commercially or government sensitive. Do not expect SIRA to provide you with its full commercial services just because you are a student. We are charitable in small regular doses.
- Yes, we have a lot of data that is growing everyday. Yes, we probably could give you the answers you need so quickly. But please remember we invested considerable time, energy and financial resources to achieve what we have today. We are proud of our unique status in the Asia-Pacific region. You too can gain some satisfaction from undertaking your own research to derive your study results.
- Be patient and wait for an answer. We receive so many requests that you will be placed in a queue. 1-2 week response times for student inquiries are typical because we give priority to the organizations that pay us (and even they have to wait in a priority queue, so great is the demand for SIRA's services.)
- Be reasonable, humble and sympathetic to the response you receive. Remember we receive no government subsidies or aid. If we provide answers to your questions for free or a heavily discounted price, it is SIRA that must bear the loss of revenue from commercial sources while your request is met.
Whatever you request, do not follow the examples below. We did not assist them.
"
I am currently doing a university research project on plastics in
Malaysia. Basically, what I am attempting to do is prepare a
feasibility report/investment risk analysis, on exporting or acquiring
a business to manufacture plastic. I have chosen automotive injection moulding
in Malaysia. As such I was inquiring as to a basic outline on how you prepare such
information for clients, and if possible I was hoping to gather
information from you such as, market performance, consumer analysis,
macro-economic considerations at present, and other information that
would help to provide an overall investment risk analysis. I would like to receive this information by the end of this week if possible, so we can begin to make site visits and assessments.
Thank you for your timely action."

Please provide me with data that indicate the tonnes, value, grades and prices paid for PVC in its 10 largest application markets, the names and addresses of the 20 largest customers and the selling strategies of the present suppliers.
