  • Occupational Safety + Health Advisory/Assessment Services

SIRA is well versed in national and international OS+H requirements as well as promoting United Nations standards across borders. Assessments are made on-site using proven systems devised and administered by SIRA. We can also benchmark your operations with other smiliar facilities.

We issue a certificate that indicates the rating of the site with a separate list of actions required for improvement. Assesments can be reviewed on a quarterly basis if required. SIRA's OS+H advisory activities can be useful in also in meeting ISO14000 and other recently developed regional and international standards and requirements. Most important of all, we indicate the real problems and provide recommendations for improvement.

SIRA can provide guidelines, site evaluation and a structured development plan to meet OS+H requirements. Obviously not everything can be achieved overnight as Government may expect, and we can assist in setting a time frame for improvement and positive action. We find that in many factory situations the basic OS+H recommendations cost minimal amounts and actually lead to improvements in worker productivity (in a foam maker this was 415% additional daily output!) So OS+H when approached from a manufacturing perspective can make good business sense.

Many broad-based standards and accreditation consultants do not actually involve improvements to the everyday production operations of the factory.

The basic steps we undertake are follows:

    • Definition of scope with client
    • Format outline of result (ILO OSH module, customized, etc)
    • Site visit, discussion and inspection
    • Ancillary off-site data collection
    • Follow-up data requests with client
    • Analysis of data (including benchmarking)
    • Draft report or conclusions to client
    • Additional data and refinement
    • Final report and/or presentation to client

A typical SIRA Occupational Safety and Health assessment report includes:

    • Executive Summary
    • Manufacturing Operations Overview
    • Occupational Issues By key Occupation
    • Safety Status And Procedures By Key Site Work Area
    • Health Status And Procedures By Key Site Work Area
    • Benchmarking With Relevant Industry Best Practice
    • Checklist Of OS+H Preventive Measures
    • Rating
    • Recommendations For Improvement/Development

Notice that we provide every site with a standard list of preventitive measures relevant to their industry and their specific site. The OS+H documentation can become a a practical tool used during the life of the manufacturing operation and can be updated by the firm upon subsequent reviews. Sites using hazardous chemicals are specifically targeted and we follow International Labor Office standards in our procedures and formation of advisory guidelines.

Other OS+H activities undertaken by SIRA include:

    • 'User-friendly' workshops and seminars on OS+H to individual manufacturing sites, industry associations and Government departments.

    • Industry sector surveys within a number of Asia-Pacific nations on OS+H matters. We have found considerable variation between industry sectors and factory sites, often contrary to national government statistical trends.

SIRA works with Asia-Pacific industry, government and other organisations in collecting data, undertaking first stage analysis and also providing advice for realistic solution options for improvement. In some issues we are the only such certification authority in the Asian region. SIRA's assessment and certification expertise in the Asia-Pacific region also includes:

    Please Note for:

Our work is commercial and industrial in nature and not academic - we deal with the hard facts and potential cost-effective solutions.

Please note that most certification results are confidential to clientele. The aim is to improve the competence of the organisation, rather than punish them for past or existing problems and conditions. It is easier to criticise than to find the solution - we seek to reveal the problems and assist in the solution - this is progress.

We are happy to receive you inquiries, no matter how small or large. Just send a fax (+61-2-6296 1937) or email (sira@netnfo.com.au) to SIRA with your requirements and we'll get back to you promptly with an outline of what we can do, how we'll do it, what it will cost and timing considerations. Try us - we are specialists and will always do our best to assist - we plan to be around a long time building relationships, not burning bridges.
