There are numerous emerging industrial issues that require due diligence and responsibility by industry. SIRA is in a position to assist in specialist key areas by independent survey, analysis and certification of industrial facilities and sites. ![]()
Certification & Assessment Services
SIRA works with Asia-Pacific industry, government and other organisations in collecting data, undertaking first stage analysis and also providing advice for realistic solution options for improvement. In some issues we are the only such certification authority in the Asian region.
SIRA's assessment and certification expertise in the Asia-Pacific region include:
Please Note for:
- Manufacturing Due Diligence. We specialise in providing due diligence reports covering manufacturing technology and market orientation status of sites subject to acquistition and restructuring. Our certification is recognised by major foreign and local investor and corporations.
- Industrial Waste Audit. We utilise United Nations code of practice in questionnaire compilation, data collection, analysis, modelling, report writing and review procedures. Our certification is recognised by regional government environment and industry authorities.
(This work also compliments our national surveys of industrial waste disposal, some of which are available in SIRA publications.)
- Industrial Productivity Certification. SIRA is increasingly active in factory productivity assessment, benchmarking and certification. We have devised a unique system for the plastics and rubber industries that details equipment, tooling, materials, work conditions and management performance. Unlike ISO and product standards we actually look at the site operations and provide recommendations for improvement. Because we are specialists in plastics and rubber we can assist improvments in productivity that directly affect your profitability! This process is not just a nice certificate but has positive operational impact.
- Labor Practices Audit. SIRA is the only agency that undertakes independent investigation, strategic analysis and accrediation rating of factory labor conditions. This often involves sub-contractors of larger transnational OEMs. We assess performance based on United Nations labor standards on age, gender, payment, fringe benefits (including meals, accommodation, transport, superannuation, bonus, etc). This work is undertaken across the widest range of industrial establishments from small family busineses to large footwear factories employing many thousands of employees. We also undertake periodic review inspections without notice either on a formal and informal basis. We know that Government can not do this and so we find strong support from Government, trade union, industry association and community interest groups in this accrediation and certification process.
- Materials Cost Audit. Sometimes manufacturers are concerned with escalating production costs and other expenses. We provide an audit service that verifies, monitors and provide accrediation in levels (with alternate cost minimsation options where feasible) to manufacturing sites for internal management use.
- Occupational Safety And Health Assessment. SIRA is well versed in national and international OH+S requirements as well as promoting United Nations standards across borders. Assessments are made on-site using proven systems devised and administered by SIRA. We can also benchmark your operations with other smiliar facilities. We issue a certificate that indicates the rating of the site with a separate list of actions required for improvement. Assesments can be reviewed on a quarterly basis if required. SIRA's OS+H activities may also be useful in meeting ISO14000 and other recently developed regional and international standards and requirements. An most importantly we indicate the real problems and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Recycling Audit. As a subsector of industrial waste auditing we also monitor, record and provide accrediation to manufacturing sites for internal recycling processes and where undertaken post industrial recovery and reuse of materials.
(This work also compliments our national surveys of industrial waste and recycling, some of which are available in SIRA publications.)
- ISO program certification - SIRA prefers to refer organisations to consultants that are accredited for this in your nation. Despite numerous requests, SIRA does not see a need to duplicate these existing certification services. (Yes, we do sub-contract market, waste and productivity analysis for ISO consultants)
- Quality Control certification - SIRA prefers to refer organisations to consultants that are accredited for the many QC certification available (ABC, JIT, Juran, Kanban, TQC, etc) located in your nation. Again, despite numerous requests, SIRA does not see a need to duplicate these existing certification services. Of course we can advise you how to meet such quality control programs.
Our work is commercial and industrial in nature and not academic - we deal with the hard facts and potential cost-effective solutions.
Many industrial sites are excellent examples of what should and can be in today's Asia-Pacific manufacturing sector, whilst others require considerable improvement. For example, some of our typical assessment and certification work has found:
- Breach of aggreed and stated employee award conditions
- Evidence of child labor
- Faulty emission equipment
- Fraudulent corporate documentation of materials deliveries
- Government corrupt interference in documentation
- Government sanctioned pollution of public waterways, land mass and air
- High level toxic emissions in the workplace known to management
- Illegal 'after hours' hazardous waste dumping
- Inadequate product/market diversification
- Indentured labor in large sub-contractors to famous brand name OEMs
- Lack of productivity compared to competitors
- Less than optimal machinery or labor productivity
- Low capacity utilisation
- Outdated or inadequate design capabilities
- Poor machinery maintenance
- Provision of poor quality/functioning production materials and equipment
- Racial and gender discrimination in labor payment, conditions and career structure
- Religious belief bias in employment hiring and promotion structure
- Sales management funds embezzlement
- Sexual harassment and abuse in workplace
- Theft of manufacturing site assets
- Uncompetitive operations compared with other manufacturers
- Unsatisfactory raw materials or machinery mix
- Use of illegal migrant workers
- Use of violence and coercion in workplace by management
Please note that most certification results are confidential to clientele. The aim is to improve the competence of the organisation, rather than punish them for past or existing problems and conditions. It is easier to criticise than to find the solution - we seek to reveal the problems and assist in the solution - this is progress.
